TICR Transport Industrial Commercial Refrigeration net zero refrigeration

The TICR project is an investigation into real energy use and greenhouse gas emissions from the transport, industrial and commercial refrigeration sectors in the UK. This work has created a comprehensive data driven and whole systems approach to support decarbonisation strategy and policy within the sector.

Aims and outcomes

The results of TICR are providing an in depth understanding of refrigeration related energy usage and emissions.

A roadmap for emissions mitigation, and a serious of technical annexes will outline opportunities for innovation and best-practice. When published by DESNZ links will be added to this website. In the mean time sector-specific guidance is available in the Resources.

The project was managed by a consortium of partners led by London South Bank University and funded through the Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP) by the DESNZ.

Guide for owners of refrigerated cold stores now available

This free guide has been developed based on the findings of site surveys carried out on a range of refrigeration
equipment by experts during 2023/4. It also takes into account work undertaken by the project to evaluate the sector emissions, technology options and industry best practices. Available now from the Resources area of the website where you can also find other useful guides and webinars.
